Guests took part in Olympic celebrations and were given information about the country’s new tourism strategy for 2010. With expected growth for 2010, Switzerland Tourism is promoting the country’s hiking trails as part of a “Year of Hiking” promotion. HOTEL LE GERMAIN CALGARY OPENS
Calgary’s new 143-room Hotel Le Germain opened last week and is celebrating until March 31, 2010, by offering its superior rooms at $199 per night, based on double occupancy, plus taxes. The regular price after the special is $279. The hotel is located at 9th Avenue and Centre Street.

Anderson Vacations and Travel Alberta took agents to Whistler, B.C., via rail

Anderson Vacations and Travel Alberta took agents on a journey from Vancouver to Whistler, B.C., aboard the new rail service offered by Rocky Mountaineer in partnership with the province of Alberta.  Alberta paired with Rocky Mountaineer to offer this train service. JAL INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE
The JAL Group (JAL) announced last Friday that on March 2, 2010, it will establish an independent third-party Compliance Investigations Committee with an objective to examine past business practices of the JAL Group. Members of the committee include Saiguchi Chiharu, a lawyer belonging to the Tokyo Bar Association and a current member of the Supreme Court of Japan, and Kainaka Tatsuo, a former member of the Supreme Court of Japan.

The Alberta Regional Board invites all  members, industry friends and guests to enjoy a wine tasting & pairing on March 10 at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Highwood Boardroom in Calgary.
